S.O.S. TIMOR
Timor Lorosae (the name of the new born country) has been left alone by the international community. The member of Partido Ecologista «Os Verdes» in the committee of international observers was forced to leave the territory on Monday, among with all the others. There are no journalists in East Timor.
UNAMET (UN mission in Timor) is leaving the territory. The news about what's going on in Timor in the last days are very scarce. There are reports that say that hundred, maybe thousands, of civilians were killed and several other thousands were taken out of borders. But nobody knows for sure of what's going on. What we know is that the Indonesian Government won't do its part of the agreement - to ensure the safety of the people of East Timor
Day after day its getting more difficult to ensure the success of the referendum (78.5% in favour for independence).
Day after day its getting more difficult to ensure the independence of East-Timor.
Day after day more civilians are getting killed by the militias and by the Indonesian army, even the catholic priests.
Day after day more and more civilians are being deported to West Timor and to Indonesia.
Day after day more and more houses and churches are getting burned out.
Soon East-Timor will be a dead territory, and Timor Lorosae will never exist.
Urgently something must be done by the international community.The international community cannot wait for the call of the Indonesian Government.
There's an urgent need of an International Peace Keeping force to be sent to the Territory of East-Timor.We demand to the UN to act and stop this tragedy.
UN's role is at stake, if it can't ensure the success of the process.
The people of East-Timor cannot wait one more day.
Freedom cannot wait one more day.
Democracy cannot wait one more day.
